The Eric Thomas Foundation realizes a good education is your key to sucess. It was established in 2010 with one of its goals as raising funds for under-privileged youth seeking to realize the dream of higher education. In light of today's socio-economic climate and the steady climb of tuition rates, the financial burden of obtaining a college degree has become increasingly difficult. The Eric Thomas Foundation seeks to target high school athletes and/or students who would otherwise be unable to acquire financial assistance and support.
Each year, the Eric Thomas Scholarship is awarded to deserving high school seniors who plan on attending a
2 or 4-year University. Students must be a resident of Texas. Each applicant is required to submit a 500-word essay explaining why they should receive The Eric Thomas Scholarship. To download an application, click here.
The Eric Thomas Scholarship was presented to its first recipient at Garrison High School on May 17, 2011. As the Foundation continues to grow, we hope to provide more scholarships every year. The Foundation's ultimate goal is to make the dream of obtaining higher education a reality for thousands of students. We aim to raise a minimum of $10,000 each year in scholarship funds.
The Foundation desires to assist in the development of professionals who are prepared to compete effectively in a global economy. Future plans for the Foundation include life skills training, including resume writing, tutoring, professional mentoring and leadership training.
